Call for Papers – XVIII International Congress of Celtic Studies – Salamanca. 26–30 April 2027

Salamanca University is delighted to host the 18th International Congress of Celtic Studies! This five-day event (Monday to Friday) will feature four days of engaging presentations, a midweek excursion on Wednesday, and a rich cultural programme, offering participants a chance to explore both the academic and historical treasures of Salamanca.

We warmly invite scholars, researchers, and students working in any area of Celtic Studies to submit proposals for:

  • 20-minute papers
  • 90-minute themed sessions
  • Poster presentations
  • Roundtables or workshops

Submissions should be sent to celticstudiescongress@usal.es with the subject line: “Abstract [paper / poster / session / roundtable / workshop] + Last Name.” You may submit up to two abstracts: one for a themed session and one as an individual contribution.

Paper proposals should include: author’s name, affiliation (if any), email address, paper title, and a 200–300 word abstract. Deadline: 1 November 2026.

Roundtables, themed sessions, and workshop proposals should include: organiser(s) name(s), affiliation(s), email address(es), title, and a 200–300 word description. Deadline: 1 October 2026.

Registration will open early in the Autumn of 2026. Don’t miss this opportunity to share your research, network with colleagues from around the world, and experience the vibrant culture of Salamanca!

Once you have completed the registration form, an email will be sent to you with links to a secure payment site. Your registration will be confirmed once the registration fee has been paid.

Coffee Breaks and Lunch
Coffee breaks and lunches throughout the week are included in the registration fee (Wednesday is not included).

Cultural Program & Excursions
The cultural program is free of charge, but registering for activities helps us plan them effectively. Information on the activities in the cultural program can be found here. On Wednesday, delegates may choose from seven different excursions, with prices ranging from €0 (free) to €60. Detailed descriptions of these excursions can be found in the corresponding section (Day Trips).

📝 Registration and Payment

  • REGISTRATION WILL OPEN SOON. Further details will be posted here shortly. Please check back for updates and announcements
  • Fees (includes coffee breaks and buffet lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; Wednesday is not included):
  • Full Price: €300
  • Early Bird (until 10 December 2026): €250
  • Student: €175
  • Student Early Bird (until 10 December 2026): €125
  • Accompanying Person: €100
  • Excursions: €60 each
  • ✅ Completing an online registration counts as a firm booking and acceptance of these terms.
  • 💳 Registration is not confirmed until full payment is received.
  • We accept credit card payments for all Congress fees.
  • 🎯 Early Bird discount: only valid if payment is received by 23:59 on 10 December 2026. Late registrations are charged the full fee.

❌ Cancellation and Refunds

  • Notify organisers in writing if you need to cancel.
  • On or before 1 March 2027: 50% refund of registration fees, including lunch.
  • After 1 March 2027: no refunds. Trips/excursions are non-refundable.
  • No refunds for non-attendance.
  • 🛑 Congress cancellation: all registration fees refunded, but organisers disclaim any further liability.

🔄 Changes to the Congress and Programme

  • The organisers may change the programme, speakers, dates, or venue for reasons beyond their control.
  • Papers may be removed if registration is not completed by 23:59 on 1 March 2027.

🔒 Privacy

  • Personal data is handled according to GDPR regulations.
  • Your information will only be used to contact you about this Congress.
  • Your details will not be shared with third parties, except for future Congress announcements.
  • You can opt out of future mailings at any time.

📸 Publicity, Filming, and Photographs

  • Photos and videos may be taken for Salamanca University marketing purposes.
  • By attending, you acknowledge that you may appear in media materials.
  • Delegates posting on social media should seek permission from speakers before posting images.
  • Avoid posting pictures that could show someone in an unflattering way.

  • All materials (slides, handouts, ideas) are copyrighted by the presenter.
  • These cannot be used, shared, modified, or published without permission and full acknowledgement.

⚖ Liability

  • Views expressed by speakers, sponsors, or exhibitors are their own.
  • Organisers are not responsible for advice or opinions shared at the Congress.

🎫 Conference Badges

  • Name badges must be worn at all times during Congress events.
  • Entry may be refused if no badge is worn.
  • Lost or forgotten badges can be reissued.
